Jon Voight Slams Obama, Democrats on Fox News

Actor Jon Voight is not happy with President Obama or the current Democratic Party.

The Oscar-winning actor railed against the president and his party on Mike Huckabee’s Fox News program on July 12. The pre-planned remarks included everything from Benghazi to the IRS scandal to the “targeting” of filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza’s new book.

“Let us remember, let us not forget Benghazi,” Voight said. “Let us not say, ‘What difference does it make?’ Obama found a perfect way to put this under the rug, blaming Republicans, saying that they just want to find fault with his administration. And still to this day we still do not know the truth.”

Voight goes on to blast the Democratic Party and its leadership.

“The Democrat party has become a very negative force. … It’s more socialist in their thinking, and they’ve given young women the wrong ideas about what democracy really is,” he said. “Debbie Wasserman Schultz is the gang leader for all the wrong information to our young women. Convincing them that Republicans are stopping their liberties and freedoms of reproduction when the truth is, as the Supreme Court upheld, that religious freedoms are being infringed upon.”

Voight has been an outspoken conservative in Hollywood and has not shied away from voicing his opinions on the current president and his administration. Voight is the father of Angelina Jolie who, along with fiancé Brad Pitt, visited Obama in the White House in 2012.

Robert Duvall Hosting Romney Fundraiser

Actor Robert Duvall is set to host a fundraiser for the Romney campaign at his Virginia home, according to the invitation obtained by the National Journal.

The event is set to take place Sept. 6 at his Loudon County, Va. home. General reception tickets are $2,500 per person. Tickets to the dinner where Ann Romney will be in attendance will go for $25,000. The VIP photo reception goes for $10,000 a person.

Duvall is one of the few out-spoken conservative actors who has publicly endorsed a presidential candidate. While President Obama has had a plethora of fundraisers with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Romney hasn’t garnered the same enthusiasm or support. Although Hollywood tends to swing liberal, Romney has only managed to gain actors Scott Baio and Jon Voight on his fundraising list.

With the election more than three months away, there is still time for Romney to gain some Hollywood support…if there is any.

Brad Pitt’s Mother Writes Scathing Letter About Obama

Actor Brad Pitt‘s mother, Jane Pitt, ripped into President Obama and gays in a letter to the Springfield NewsLeader

I have given much thought to Richard Stoecker’s letter (“Vote for Mormon against beliefs,” June 15). I am also a Christian and differ with the Mormon religion. But I think any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon.

Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney’s opponent, Barack Hussein Obama — a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage.

I hope all Christians give their vote prayerful consideration because voting is a sacred privilege and a serious responsibility.

Pitt recently starred in the pro-gay play “8” with actor George Clooney and other stars. Pitt and fiancé/actress Angelina Jolie visited the White House and spoke with the president in January, while in Washington D.C. screening Jolie’s film, In the Land of Blood and Honey.

This is an interesting family development for Pitt, who has often been an outspoken liberal and donated to Obama in 2008. He has also stated that he has strayed away from Christianity due to his strict upbringing.

Jolie’s father, actor Jon Voight is one of Hollywood’s most outspoken conservatives and recently attended a fundraiser for Romney in Beverly Hills. Jolie has had an off and on relationship with her father over the years, and many speculate it is because of his strong Christian conservative beliefs.

In an article from THR, Pitt expressed his support for the president.

“I’m an Obama supporter, no question,” Pitt said. “But it doesn’t mean there’s nothing to learn from the other side.”

According to THR, Pitt told Ellen DeGeneres, “I’ve said that we would not be getting married until everyone in this country had the right to get married.” The couple became engaged in April.

An interesting debacle for two of Hollywood’s biggest stars and their families, who seem to be polar opposites politically.

Romney Fundraises in Beverly Hills

GOP Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has attempted to court Hollywood as President Obama has.

Around 400 people attended a campaign fundraiser Thursday night at the Beverly Hills Hotel. However, there was one very important Hollywood aspect missing: the Hollywood A-listers, the Los Angeles Times reports.

There was no George Clooneys, Will Smiths or Reese Witherspoons. However, actors Jon Voight and Scott Baio were among those in attendance. Both actors have been outspoken conservatives in Hollywood over the years. A rarity in a town so heavily dominated by liberal entertainers.

Voight wrote a critical open letter to the president in 2010, accusing him of having betrayed Israel and “promoted anti-Semitism throughout the world.”

Romney said there has been a lot of support from the liberal town.

“There’s people I know who have gone against the tide to support me in this effort, getting on my bandwagon very early, even some Hollywood folks,” Romney said.

Tickets to the event ranged from $2,500 to $50,000.

Both campaigns are expected to return to Beverly Hills in upcoming months for more fundraising events.
