President Obama made the rounds in Hollywood in early April to fundraise for House and Senate Democrats.
Obama attended a fundraiser Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn and wife Cindy Horn’s Bel-Air home. It was the 40th Hollywood fundraiser for the president.
Attendees shelled out $66,800 per couple, and included Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow and Disney CEO Bob Iger, according to Deadline. Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and wife Katie McGrath, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Norman Lear and Lyn Lear, Barbra Streisand and James Brolin were also co-hosts of the fundraiser.
The fundraiser benefitted House Democrats in their effort to recapture the majority. Many political observers believe presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump would hurt more moderate Republican representatives and give Democrats a favorable chance of winning the majority.
House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) chair Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), were expected to attend the event.
The next morning, Obama attended a breakfast at Tobey Maguire and wife Jennifer Meyer’s home to benefit the Democratic Senatorial Committee. Tickets were $33,400 per couple.

Paltrow hosted a fundraiser for the president’s 2012 reelection campaign in London, with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Some of the world’s most famous fashion icons gathered in London Wednesday night for a private Obama fundraiser.
The Obama Victory Fund 2012 event was held at the exclusive Mark’s club in Mayfair. The bash was hosted by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, designer Tom Ford and actress Gwyneth Paltrow. Obama’s 2008 campaign manager David Plouffe was also in attendance.
Paltrow arrived around 7:30 p.m. with actress Cameron Diaz. Other guests included Downton Abbey’s Elizabeth McGovern, Natalie Massenet, founder of Net-a-Porter and new chair of the British Fashion Council and Elizabeth Saltzman, international social editor of Vanity Fair, according to The Guardian.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow will be joining Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, fashion designer Tom Ford and Obama’s 2008 campaign manager, David Plouffe in hosting a fundraiser for President Obama on Sept. 19 in London, reports the London Evening Standard.
The event will be held at Mark’s Club, a private dining club in Mayfair. Tickets for the dinner are going for $15,000 a plate.
This isn’t Wintour’s first time co-hosting a fundraising dinner for the president. Just this year, the Obama-bundler co-hosted an event with actress Sarah Jessica Parker and another at the home of Harvey Weinstein.
Paltrow has also been a vocal supporter for Obama and attended a fundraiser for him in New York City with husband Chris Martin of Coldplay in Aug. 2011. In Oct. 2011, she and Martin hosted their own fundraiser for the president in their London home.
The Obama campaign recently held a fundraiser in Geneva, Switzerland – one of many overseas fundraising events. Actor George Clooney spoke at the event.
Actress Elizabeth Banks talked about her experience with Planned Parenthood and why she supports it in a new video produced by the Obama campaign.
In the video, Banks blasts Mitt Romney over his stance on Planned Parenthood.
“These services that they provide — what is it? Ninety-five percent of them don’t involve anything controversial, so for that little 5 percent that Mitt Romney decides he doesn’t agree with, he’s going to take away cancer screenings? What is he doing? He’s going to take people’s access to health care close by? We’re talking about working-class ladies who need health care,” Banks said.
The actress then goes on to praise President Obama and his support for Planned Parenthood.
“President Obama has not compromised on women’s rights and that’s why President Obama needs to stay in office,” Banks said.
Banks isn’t the only actress to publicly support Planned Parenthood. Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson have also made videos expressing their support.
