‘Superman’ Actor Thinking About U.S. House Bid

‘Superman’ actor Dean Cain is contemplating a run for a California House seat, which includes the communities of Malibu, Beverly Hills, Bel-Air and Santa Monica, reports Roll Call.

The District 33 seat is being vacated by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) after serving in Congress for 39 years.

Cain, who grew up in Malibu, said he is not affiliated with a particular political party. When pressed about his presidential vote in 2012, Cain wasn’t shy about sharing his choice. “It wasn’t Barack Obama,” he said. “It was certainly Mitt Romney.”

Cain said he was conservative on issues regarding the economy and individual liberties, but liberal on social issues.

The actor, who starred in  “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” endorsed Texas Gov. Rick Perry during the 2012 Republican primary.

Cain said he is not a fan of the retiring congressman.

“Waxman was there for a long time — far too long in my opinion,” Cain said. “I don’t like career politicians. And I don’t think it should be a full-time job, and it’s something that I would do on a part-time basis after many, many years of having a career. I’m just glad Waxman’s out, to be honest.”
