Filmmaker Brett Ratner, who infamously resigned from producing the Oscars in 2012 because of a homophobic slur, is fundraising for NYC mayoral candidate Christine Quinn – a lesbian, reports the New York Post.
Ratner – who’s directed such hits as “Rush Hour” and “Tower Heist” – has reportedly raised $28,400 for the Democratic candidate as a bundler. Quinn’s other Hollywood fundraisers include Tom Hanks and Rob Reiner.
Ratner allegedly said, “Rehearsal is for f–s.”
After the incident, Ratner received backlash from the gay community and publicly apologized for his comments. The director was honored by GLAAD in March 2013 for his support and work within the gay community.
Quinn, a City Councilor for Manhattan’s lower west side, is among a slew of contenders bidding for the mayoral title.
