Actress Connie Britton has taken a side against the Texas anti-abortion bill that is currently being debated in the “Lone Star State,” reports THR.
Britton, who played Tami Taylor on Friday Night Lights, released a limited-edition T-shirt with the saying, “WWTTD? What Would Tami Taylor Do?” in partnership with Planned Parenthood. The back of the shirt reads “standwithtexaswomen.org.” The shirts are available here during July only.
“The character Tami on Friday Night Lights is a Texas woman deeply committed to her community and to standing up for what is right for her neighbors and the people she loves,” Britton said in a statement. “I have been inspired by how people around the country have united to stand with the women of Texas, and I can’t help but think that, in this moment, we all have the opportunity to join with and become strong, powerful Texas men and women.”
Other celebrities opposing the bill include Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines (below), House‘s Lisa Edelstein and Law & Order: SVU‘s Stephanie March, who attended a rally outside the Texas State Capitol on Monday. They joined state Senator Wendy Davis, who gained respect from the pro-abortion rights community last week after filibustered the bill for 11 hours. Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards and NARAL president Ilyse Hogue were also in attendance at a rally.
