Updated: Comedian Don Rickles Makes Shocking Joke About Obama

UPDATE: TV Land will not air the controversial joke during it’s broadcast on June 24, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Comedian Don Rickles took shots at a variety of celebrities, including President Obama Thursday night at the American Film Institute’s tribute to Shirley MacLaine at Sony Pictures Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“I shouldn’t make fun of the blacks,” Rickles said. “President Obama is a personal friend of mine. He was over to the house yesterday, but the mop broke.”

Rickles continued, making jokes about Warren BeattyJack Nicholson, Jennifer Aniston and MacLaine.

MacLaine was receiving the 40th AFI’s Life Achievement Award, and at first was in shock of what 86-year-old Rickles was saying, but eventually began laughing and applauding, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Some of Rickles’ other zings included:

“Shirley, I never read your books, and I don’t plan to,” Rickles said.

To Beatty: “I know your brother very well, and I never liked him.”

To Nicholson: “He’s not here tonight – he’s with the Lakers, oiling their jocks.”

To Aniston: “[Aniston] took my table at the Tower Restaurant one night because she was in heat with some guy.”

Eventually, the comic settled down an honored MacLaine.

“You have a charm and a warmth and class. I’ve known a lot of people in showbiz, but I’m so proud that you asked me to be here tonight.”
